Introduction

All Christians are running a marathon in this world, a journey wrought with dangers and great peril. The Scriptures tell us that we are aliens here, in this world, but not of this world. Spiritual growth, a closer relationship with God is our protection, Jesus Christ our strength. Purposeful Vision is an inside out discovery process designed to reveal how and for what God created us.

Committing to this tool allows God’s Word and the Holy Spirit to clarify how you are to
live and be involved in His work. The following are objectives of the Purposeful Vision workbook.

    • Help you to overcome the world: “Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God” (1John 5:5).
    • Assist you in living to please God: “For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life” (I Thessalonians 4:7).
    • Assist you in living to win the respect of those outside the Gospel: “Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so you will not be dependent on anybody” (I Thessalonians 4:11-12).
    • Help you to make a maximum impact for Jesus Christ in the church, in the community, and in the world for Jesus Christ: “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: be reconciled to God” (2 Corinthians 5:20).
    • Assist you in receiving the full blessing and living the abundant life: “He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit” (Galatians 3:14).
    • That God may be praised: “If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 4:11).
