Scripture

For believers scripture will most likely be a powerful element in determining your purpose, mission and vision. Scripture often gives:

      • direction when at a crossroads in life
      • comfort when facing a struggle
      • hope when situations seem hopeless
      • support when enduring grief
      • victory by claiming its promises
      • answers to questions that seem unanswerable

In writing your purpose, mission and vision reflect back on Scriptures that have been meaningful to you at various times in your life. Consider asking the following simple questions about meaningful scripture passages:

      • How were they meaningful?
      • When where they meaningful?
      • Why were they meaningful?
      • Where were they meaningful?
      • What is the value of their meaning today?

These simple questions can give incredible insight into your individual purpose, mission and vision.

The following Scriptures need no commentary regarding the power of God’s Word to give purpose, mission and vision to believers.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.”

“The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. “

“Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. “

“For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.”

“Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight.”

“I guide you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths.”

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
