Step 1: Values–God’s Values

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control”(Galatians 5:22-23).

The values set forth in Galatians 5:22-23 are the most important guiding qualities for the Christian to follow. In addition to these, there are other qualities or values of importance. But all must be in agreement with the Word of God. Additional values that God uniquely creates in each of us come from a combination of our personality, spiritual gifts, abilities, experiences, and passions.

Values can serve as a filtering system for your mind, blocking unworthy thoughts, and providing focus for worthy thoughts. Philippians 4:8 gives insight into the biblical filter we should utilize.
