Step 2: Priorities–How Do Values Promote Priorities?

Priority Definition

A priority is something or someone you consider important.

Christian values feed Christian priorities and starve worldly priorities.

Priorities are derived from values. Values are filtered into your priorities. The priorities set by God will provide you with boundaries for your perspective. These priorities will clarify God’s intentions for your life, narrowing your focus for a purposeful vision. Along with values, priorities will further filter your thinking and energies toward the most important elements in your life.

Matthew 22:37 –
“…You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.”

Matthew 22:39 –
“…You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Incarnation, to be like Jesus Christ, be a disciple: “Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God” (Ephesians 5:1-2).

Live a God-centered life, seeking, finding, and following His will and purpose: “But first seek his Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” (Matthew 6:33).

A personal intimate love relationship with God through Jesus Christ: “Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent” (John 17:3).

Growth, Spiritual Maturity: “Since we live by the spirit, let us keep in step with the spirit” (Galatians 5:25).

Worship God: “Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only”
(Matthew 4:10).

Serve God: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not men” (Colossians 3:23).

Matthew 22:37 –
“…You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.”

Matthew 22:39 –
“…You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Serve all through your Spiritual Gifts: “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms” (1 Peter 4: 10).

Serve the church: “Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good”(1Corinthians 12:7).

Recreate yourself, as Jesus did, make disciples: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19-20).

A personal intimate love relationship with the Church through Jesus Christ: “Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name—the name you gave me—so that they may be one as we are one”(John 17:11).

A personal, intimate, love relationship with others through Jesus Christ: “Love your Neighbor as yourself”(Matthew 22:39).
