Priorities help you…
…arrange superior activities in the order of personal preference.
…sequence actions/activities that will have the greatest impact on your life.
…channel your energies and efforts on what is important.
In the preceeding pages, life’s greatest priorities are general. In the following exercise you will be specific regarding your priorities. The example will give ideas on how to go from general to specific. Remember to be honest with yourself on what your priorities are at this time in your life. Try not to spiritualize for the sake of spiritualizing because it may not be where you are. You may personalize the preceeding priorities, expand them, place them in order of importance, or explain them specifically as they relate to your life.
In the space provided below RANK your priorities in the order of importance. The value of ranking them is that you may have times when it is necessary to choose to act on a priority to the exclusion of another. For example, daily time with God might be a higher priority than physical exercise. If you have an occasion where you have to choose to spend time with God or exercise then the higher ranked priority would be chosen.
Priorities will provide boundaries and work as a funnel preventing the less important items in your life to be funneled into your daily actions. This funnel will prevent unnecessary entanglement, wasted time, and unwanted stress and anxiety by focusing on things that are unimportant. Clear priorities clarify your focus and simplify your actions.
