Where Does True Perspective Originate?

Example:

These two men exemplify perspective from totally opposite spectrums.

Self-centered perspective:
Saddam Hussein

God-centered perspective:
Billy Graham

When we think about “perspective” in the context of truth (God’s Holy Word) we realize that there are two positions available that have meaning. The first position, without Christ, is the world view and the second position, with Christ, is the spiritual view.

Without Christ, the perspective is self-centered and short-term. It reflects a wasteful
attitude about life, where pain or pleasure determine response.

With Christ, the perspective is God-centered and long-term. It reflects an attitude of
investment in life, where lasting results and eternal rewards determine response.

The spiritual life is driven by Christian values, priorities, and life roles that enable
the individual to discover a purposeful vision for his/her life.

The discovery of a purposeful vision can only be accomplished within the context of the will of God. It must flow from our faith in God through Jesus Christ. “Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails” (Proverbs 19:21). God has a place and a design for each individual, a plan uniquely paced to fit us into his universal purpose. It is a life filled with meaning, direction, and fulfillment. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose”(Romans 8:28).

Purposeful vision gives direction.
