March at a Glance

March at a Glance

In the days leading up to Good Friday and Easter, I spent some time studying the reactions of those closest to Jesus during the events surrounding his death and resurrection. Peter seemed to come up a lot, and he always seemed to have something to say.

Some of Peter’s bravest moments, boldest questions, and biggest failures unfold in this short period of time. You may remember the incident with the soldier’s ear, the infamous foretold denials while Jesus was on trial, running to the empty tomb, and his life changing conversation with Jesus one early morning by the sea.

One thing struck me as I walked through these stories. At the last supper, Jesus is washing the disciples feet and Peter insists that Jesus wash his whole body to ensure he can be with Jesus. Peter later questions the whereabouts of where Jesus was going, desperate to know so he could go with Him.

In the Garden of Gethsemane and when he found himself around that campfire outside of Jesus’ trial, despite his major mess ups, he was there because he wanted to be near Jesus.

When he realized his friend, his Messiah, might be alive, he raced to the tomb. And when he saw him on shore after a long night with no luck, John says he leaped out of the boat to get to Jesus.

Many of these moments and quite a few of his questions revealed something to me about his heart. Despite his failures and amidst his questions, he desperately longed to be with Jesus. And, to our comfort, Jesus knew his heart, just like He knows ours.

He knows we have questions, he’s familiar with our fears, is well aware of when we stumble, and yet still calls us to 1) love Him & 2) feed His sheep. I wish I could’ve been with Peter on the beach that morning, to hear the kindness in Jesus’ tone, as He called Peter to more than he ever would’ve expected.

After losing one of their beloved teachers, and the high school’s NG3 founder, I have witnessed the girls understand the value of gathering with fellow believers in a new way.

In their grief, they gravitated toward prayer and fellowship. Our Monday rhythms gave them something to look forward to, a safe place to process their grief, and even find new joy.

Projects & Parasailing

Our week in Ft. Lauderdale was a productive one working on new and existing projects. One in particular involved prepping for a Parent-Student PLACE event we are having at First Redeemer at the end of April.

We envision this curriculum could be used in the schools we’re partnering with along with other churches looking to invest and develop in parents and their students.

And let’s not forget some of the creative outlets we found to brainstorm!

Prayers for New Partnerships

Lots of seeds were planted this month with schools like Greater Atlanta Christian School, Valor Christian Academy, and Lanier Christian Academy regarding what it could look like to integrate PLACE into their student and staff development.

As we continue working with their leaders, we pray that both them and us would have a clear vision for what these partnerships will look like moving forward.
