October at a Glance
We walked through a lot of doors this past month that were already and have the potential to be great
opportunities for the ministry.
When we were in Indiana at the KidzMatter Conference, I met a publisher who works with Crossway Publishing. He worked in Marketing and Sales which meant his job consisted of reading books Crossway was publishing and then convincing customers or bookstores to buy those books.
He said something profound when I asked him about his job. He told me what made his job worthwhile for him. He said, “I get to affect others with the words that affected me.”
What a beautiful way to approach ministry and even life. Getting to affect others with the good news and gifts that have affected and impacted you. I pray we can continue to affect and bless others with what has impacted and affected us.
Kidz Matter Conference
The conference was a great networking and marketing opportunity. We are continuing to connect with leads we made there and pray we will see new partnerships develop with churches and ministries because of our time there.
Bolivia
In 1 Corinthians 16, Paul talks about the power of people’s presence to refresh our soul and our ministry.
During my time in Bolivia, I took the missionaries there through PLACE in an effort to help them gain a better understanding of themselves and their team. My prayer was that my presence there and our time together would be refreshing and encouraging to their mission.
As we move forward, we are hoping to continue our partnership with their ministry and seminary so that PLACE can become a part of their training and spread through their church network in both Bolivia and Argentina.
Anderson
Dad and I had the opportunity to teach in two classes at Anderson University this month and what a pleasure it was. Dad has been teaching at Anderson for almost 15 years now and we are continuing to talk with them about the potential for growth we see there with their students.
PLACE at NHC
Started teaching PLACE with a new group at NHC that will continue through November. The turnout was even better than I anticipated.
People’s presence and interest was a testament to both the need and value of this process to connect people who
haven’t yet found their place in the church.
PLACE Workshop
We had a small but fruitful group in our training this past month. Shane, a pastor from Ohio, said while he had
been to many conferences before, this one was the most intentional, personable, and practical he had been a part
of.
Affirmation like that is always so encouraging to hear people speak to the value of their time with us and the
value they see in utilizing the PLACE process at their church.
