PLACE is an intentional process to help God’s people discover how He has uniquely created them so they can be and do what He created them for in life and ministry (Ephesians 2:10).

PLACE is an acronym that stands for:

P - Personality Discovery
L - Learning Spiritual Gifts
A - Abilities Awareness
C - Connecting Passion with Ministry
E - Experiences of Life

How PLACE Works?

PLACE Has Developed A Process That Consists of Three Steps:

  • Personal Discovery

    Personal Discovery through the five elements (PLACE) are provided through teaching materials and assessments that each person going through the process completes to create their own unique PLACE Profile.

  • Coaching

    Every person who completes the PLACE Profile will meet one-on-one with a trained PLACE Connection Coach. The Connection Coach will help the person understand their PLACE Profile in a holistic way along with guiding them to areas of ministry that would be suited for how God has created them.

  • Connecting

    PLACE Ministries offers a proprietary ministry database to help churches move members from discovery to coaching and placement in ministry roles. The ministry database has a wealth of features to help leaders manage and lead their people through the assimilation process.

What Makes PLACE Different?

After almost 30 years of serving over 15,000 churches and organizations PLACE Ministries believes we offer a combination of unique services and resources that set us apart for any other organization that strives to support the local church in connecting God’s people to meaningful ministry.

Here are some of the features when combined make PLACE unique in assimilating and stewarding God’s people to meaningful ministry:

PLACE starts with Scripture and ends with Scripture in the resources and teachings we provide to support and undergird churches and ministries. PLACE explains the timeless and unchanging teachings and truths from God’s Word how we are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:13-14) and created for a purpose (Ephesians 2:10).

PLACE uses tools like spiritual gift assessments as the starting place (no pun intended) in the discovery process and not the process. Far too often assessments are the process and not a part of the process. Assessments are extremely helpful in beginning the discovery process, but we believe Biblical principles, Scripture and coaching are what breath life in helping a person discover how and where God desires to use them to impact His Kingdom.

PLACE uses the analogy of a body to show the value of the various elements that compromise the PLACE process. Assessments are like a skeleton. While not exciting to look at a skeleton the skeleton is foundational to providing the flesh for the body. The Biblical teaching within PLACE is the flesh that goes onto the body. The coaching is the oxygen and blood that brings life to the body. PLACE Ministries provides countless resources for coaching from training guides, online courses to onsite training for churches
and organizations.

PLACE Ministries has created and continues to create countless resources to help churches and organizations in the three-
step process from personal discovery to coaching to connecting God’s people in meaningful ministry. Many of these resources are offered free through our website (www.placeministries.org).

We at PLACE Ministries are practitioners in our local church in utilizing PLACE to connect God’s people to meaningful ministry. Jay McSwain, the Founder of President of PLACE Ministries has taken thousands of individuals through the PLACE process where he serves as the Pastor of Discipleship. The principles of God’s Word are timeless, but the methods of how we live them out are changing and often changing rapidly. Because we are involved in serving and utilizing PLACE in our local churches along with supporting thousands of churches of all types, we are uniquely qualified to come alongside any church that desires to connect God’s people to meaningful ministry.

Conclusion

We live in a world (yes even in the church) that promotes uniqueness but continually seeks far too often to short cut processes in order to categorize and pigeonhole people in our view of how and where they should serve God. PLACE is not a tool that puts people in a box or categorizes them but helps people discover how God has uniquely designed them for what He has called them to do to fulfill His purpose in their lives (Ephesians 2:10).
